The town of Skyros is located under an imposing rock with the Byzantine castle. The houses of Skyros have flat roofs and a finest interior decoration. The town of Skyros has a lot of popular art workshops, well decorated shops and interesting museums.

It is worth visiting the ruins of the ancient Acropolis, the Byzantine Castle, the statue of the eternal poetry, the stone theatre Faltaits,  the area Fere Kambos and the two museums of archaeological and folcloric interest. Aspou is a coastal settlement with the famous pottery workshop of Skyros. At the seaside village of Atsitsa there is a small island, with a very exceptional flora and fauna. In the area is worth visiting the church and the bay of Agios Petros.

Acherounes and Kalamitsa are small villages close to the port. In the south part of the island you can visit the springs Loutro and Nifi, the Voukolinas and Ari plateau and Renes bay. Linaria is the picturesque harbour of the island. Excursion boats transfer people to caves Xyloparati, Mantroucha and Pentekali and to Sarakino island with the beautiful beach of Glyfada.

Magazia and Molos, with the small port are also beautiful settlements. In Pouria there is the ancient quarry, the church of St. Nicholas and the restored windmill that operates as a bar-restaurant. Gyrismata is a beautiful long bay right after Molos area, where you can enjoy the unique sunrise.

In Palamari bay remains of an ancient settlement have been found that is back in the early and middle Bronze Age. Visit the picturesque bay of Agios Fokas near Pefko’s settlement. The route from Agios Fokas to Atsitsa will impress you.

Around Skyros there are many islands like Sarakino, Palti, Exo Diavatis, Plaka, Mesa Diavatis, Lakkonisi, Thalia, Agios Fokas, Koulouri, Mirmigonisia, Atsitsa, Kalogria, Podia, Vrikolakonisia, Valaxa and Skiropoula.

In Skyros you can buy wooden furniture and decorative objects, ceramics and textiles, you can also try delicious fish, seafood, split peas, pies, pancakes, rooster and lobster with pasta.
